Alongside your course, for a move abroad, or simply because you have been meaning to for years. No lessons: you practise words, forms and sentences, and ripiti asks them again just before you forget them.

From memory. Recognising a word is not knowing it. Only when you can say or write it from memory is it yours. That is why you type every answer in ripiti: the Italian word, the right conjugation. No multiple choice, nothing to click.
By ear. Being able to write a word does not mean you understand it when someone says it. That is why you also hear everything you learn without text: the Italian word, and you say what it means. Conjugations you hear in a sentence and write down, accents and all.
Repeat. Not ten times in a row, but a few times at the right moment: just before you lose it again. If you still know it, the gap gets longer. That is called spaced repetition, and there is a reason repeating is in the name: ripiti.
Every word and every conjugation is a card, and every card climbs a staircase. That decides when the card comes back.
Every new card begins at the bottom, at the start.
Typed correctly: one step up.
The higher the step, the longer the card stays away: 1 day, 3 days, 7 days … up to 240 days. Only then can you climb further.
Wrong: back to the start. The card comes up again later in the same round; in a review round, once more at the end.
From step 2 a card also comes back by ear from the next day, with a staircase of its own.
From step 3 a card counts as mastered.

Practical
What does it cost?
Nothing. No subscription, no ads; the website counts visits with Google Analytics, the app does not.
Do I need an account?
No. Your progress lives on your device. An account only exists to keep two devices in sync.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Add ripiti to your home screen and it works as an app, even without a connection. Audio you have never heard needs a connection once.
What level is it for?
Beginner to intermediate: the words you need first, and the tenses from A1 to B2.
What is it not?
Not a course and not a conversation partner. ripiti is the practice alongside your class, your book or your daily life in that language.
Who wrote the sentences?
They were written and checked with AI, not by a teacher. If a sentence is off, you flag it in the app with one tap.
